Wollerton Old Hall is an English climbing rose from David Austin, introduced in 2011 and named for Wollerton Old Hall in Shropshire, one of the UK’s most beautiful private gardens. Buds flashed with red open into rounded, chalice-shaped blooms of pale apricot that fade to cream as they age, each with about 45 petals. The fragrance is strong and the main reason to grow it: a warm myrrh with an intense citrus note. It repeats in flushes from late spring into fall. As a vigorous medium climber reaching about 3.5 m, it’s well suited to a 3 m wall or fence or a large arch. Give it full sun and an east-, south- or west-facing spot. It grows in all soil types and is rated hardy to zone 5.
A strongly scented David Austin climber in pale apricot and cream.
