Rose of Rosalie is a hybrid tea bred in Canada by Brad Jalbert and introduced by Sunny Side Up is a brand-new shrub rose bred in Canada by Brad Jalbert and introduced by Select Roses in 2026. It’s well named. Lemon-yellow buds open into mid-sized, lightly ruffled blooms with soft yellow centres ringed by white outer petals, rather like an egg cooked sunny side up. The flowers open wide enough to show their stamens, so pollinators can reach them easily. They come in clusters from spring into fall, with a gentle scent of anise and lemon. The plant is hardy and vigorous, growing to about 1.2–1.5 m tall, with tough, glossy foliage that resists disease. It works in a mixed planting, as an informal hedge, or in a large container.
A cheerful, pollinator-friendly Canadian shrub rose in yellow and white.
