Pomponella is a floribunda from Kordes' Fairy Tale collection, introduced in 2005. It's one of Kordes' most decorated roses: it earned Germany's ADR rating in 2006 for strong health and garden performance over years of no-spray trials, and the UK Gold Standard in 2012. Small, rounded crimson-pink buds open into clusters of five to seven very double, globe-shaped blooms in deep pink with a raspberry tone. Each is about 4–5 cm across, like the pompons of old-fashioned roses. They stay cupped for a long time before opening and soften slightly toward powder pink, but hold their colour well overall. The scent is light. It flowers in abundance from June into October. The plant is vigorous, bushy and upright at about 80–120 cm, with healthy dark green, semi-glossy foliage that's very resistant to black spot and mildew. It suits a bed, a border or a low hedge, and it's hardy to zone 5.

An ADR-rated Kordes floribunda with deep pink pompon blooms, healthy and hardy to zone 5.
