Neptune is a hybrid tea bred by Tom Carruth for Weeks Roses and one of the best-loved lavender roses. The blooms are large, about 11–12 cm across, with 34 to 45 petals. They're lavender blending to light purple, often edged with a deeper purple blush, and open from a classic hybrid tea bud to a cupped, reflexed form. The fragrance is strong and sweet, rose with a citrus note. Flowers come mostly one to a stem, so they're excellent for cutting, and they repeat in flushes from late spring to fall. The plant is tall, upright and thorny, about 1.2–1.5 m, with large semi-glossy leaves. Plant it in full sun. It's hardy to zone 6, and in zone 5 and colder it needs winter protection.
