The Martha Stewart rose is a hybrid tea from Meilland in France, first introduced in Europe as Jean de la Fontaine. Star Roses tested it in North America for several years, and Martha Stewart chose it herself to carry her name. She wanted a rose with apricot-pink colour, full blooms and excellent fragrance. The large, ruffled, cupped blooms carry more than 100 petals in ballet pink and apricot, often with soft pink outer petals around an apricot heart. The fragrance is sweet and citrusy, with notes of lemon, bergamot and honeysuckle. Flowers sit on long stems that are good for cutting and repeat in flushes from late spring to fall. The plant is compact and bushy at about 75–120 cm, with dark green glossy foliage, and suits a border, a container or a cutting garden.
