The Lady Gardener is an English shrub rose from David Austin, introduced in 2013 and named for Plant Heritage, the British charity that works to protect the diversity of garden plants. Its large, quartered rosettes, about 10 cm across, are loosely filled with around 65 petals in pure apricot, paling toward the edges. The fragrance is a medium Tea scent with hints of cedarwood and vanilla. It repeats in flushes from late spring into fall, and the blooms are good for cutting. It’s a large shrub, about 135 cm tall and 120 cm wide, and works well in a border or as a rose hedge. Give it full sun and an east-, south- or west-facing spot. It grows in all soil types and is rated hardy to zone 5.
