Gabriel Oak is a David Austin English rose from 2019, named for the steady hero of Thomas Hardy's Far from the Madding Crowd. The blooms are large, very full rosettes of up to 125 petals in a rich, deep rose-pink. The outer petals soften as the flowers age, and the strong fruity fragrance has classic old-rose depth. Flowers repeat from late spring into fall and are good for cutting. The shrub is broad and rounded at about 1.2 m tall and wide. Its dark green foliage emerges burgundy in spring, the stems are mulberry-coloured, and the plant has good disease resistance. The stems are well armed with prickles, so wear gloves when cutting. It's rated hardy to zone 4 and suits a rose bed, a mixed border or a spot where you want strong colour and scent.

Ohh the abundance! The resilience the vigor this rose has! I was away for over 3 week and one of only few roses that continued to bloom was ofcourse Gabriel Oak! If you want workhorse in your garden that is also just as fragrant, look no further! Plant it in sunny spot and feed it!
Also this is one of my favorite rose to gift my neighbors! It packs the punch! Makes his presence so clear with that huge and impactful color with just as intoxicating fragrance! My nose unfortunately can not detect different notes but I have been told that first you will detect a lemon and once you put your nose into the bloom you are hit by Jasmine-like fragrance! Just get this rose please.
