Francis Meilland is a hybrid tea from Meilland, named for the breeder of the Peace rose to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth. It's one of the first hybrid teas to pass Germany's ADR trials, where roses are judged over several years with no spraying. In 2013 it became the last All-America Rose Selections winner, and the first hybrid tea ever to win that award under no-spray conditions. The blooms are very large, about 12 cm across, with around 37 petals in a classic high-centred form. They're a soft shell pink that pales toward white as they open. The scent is strong, with citrus, fruit and old rose notes. Flowers come mostly one to a stem on long stems, so they're excellent for cutting, and they drop cleanly when finished. The plant is tall and upright, often 1.5 to 2 m, with large glossy dark green leaves. Put it at the back of a border, where its height works in its favour.
An award-winning hybrid tea in shell pink with a strong scent, and very disease resistant for its type.
