Emily Brontë is a David Austin English rose from 2018, named at the request of the Brontë Society to mark 200 years since the birth of the author of Wuthering Heights. The blooms are neat and flat, which is distinctive among English roses. The outer petals are soft pink, and the smaller centre petals deepen to rich apricot around deep-set stamens, fading toward cream as the flowers age. The fragrance is strong. It starts as a Tea scent and becomes more Old Rose, with hints of lemon and grapefruit. It flowers almost continuously from early summer into fall, and the open blooms attract bees and butterflies. The shrub is bushy, upright and healthy at about 120–140 cm, and it tolerates partial shade better than most roses. It suits a border, a hedge or a large container, and it's a good cutting rose. In colder zones, give it some winter protection.
