Crown Princess Margareta is a David Austin English rose from 1999, named for a granddaughter of Queen Victoria who was a landscape gardener and artist. The flowers are fairly large and apricot-orange, with up to 120 petals arranged in neat, old-fashioned rosettes. The fragrance is strong and fruity, with notes of tea. It grows into a tall shrub of about 1.5 m with arching canes and plenty of glossy foliage. Those long, arching canes also let it be grown as a climber, where it can reach 3 m or more on a wall or arch. It was trialled in Ontario before it was registered in Canada. It's an older variety, though, and less disease resistant than Austin's newer roses. Give it full sun and good air flow, and expect to keep an eye on its leaves through humid days.
