Carefree Spirit is a landscape shrub rose from Meilland, bred from the same line as Carefree Delight but with better disease resistance, a better growth habit and more bloom. It won the All-America Rose Selections award in 2009. The flowers are single, about 6 cm across, deep cherry red with a white eye, and they come in large clusters. The red doesn't fade in the sun. It blooms in repeated flushes from early summer into fall, and the open flowers draw bees and other pollinators. It grows into a mounded shrub about 1.2–1.5 m tall and wide, with very glossy, medium green foliage, which makes it a good fit for borders, informal hedges or mass plantings. The scent is light, so plant it for the colour and the ease of care.

An easy-care red shrub rose for gardeners who don't want to fuss with spraying.
