Campfire is a Canadian Artists Series rose from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Morden Research Station, and it's grown for its changing colour. Shapely buds open to semi-double blooms of buttery yellow edged in deep rosy pink. As the summer goes on, the pink spreads further across each petal. Old and new flowers stay on the plant together, so the bush shows yellow, pink and red at once from early summer until frost. It's hardy to zone 3 on its own roots and needs no winter fuss in most of Canada. The glossy, dark green foliage is very disease resistant, and the stems carry only the occasional thorn. The plant stays compact at about a metre tall and wide, which suits borders, mass plantings or a container. It has very little scent, so plant it for the colour rather than the fragrance.

Named for a 1916 Tom Thomson painting, and it lives up to it.

I am excited to plant this beauty in 2027! since joining Canadian Rose Society I have heard great deal about this rose from many of our guests and directors. So I decided to bring this beauty for my shop too. I am pumped to have this beauty flourish well into october/november next year!
